removing stock bars.

Been Around the Block
A seemingly simple task is giving me some grief. How do I go about getting the signal wires out of the bars with out going crazy with some wire cutters? Its a 75 cb360 if it matters.

Apply heat to the bars with a heat gun, it will soften the hardened plastic covers, also I spray wd40 into the bars to help the wire slide out. Either way you'll need some strumph!!!!!! strength gruntng and groaning. :D

Use Wire & Cable Lube. I got mine from Home Depot:

The stuff worked like a charm for both getting the wires out of the old bars and getting them around the bend in my clubmans. Hope it helps. 8)

Hey--i'm a rookie to this kind of stuff and just did my own, hesitantly, because i knew how much "the man" would charge me to have it done. i pulled out my handy dandy dremel and chopped off the end of the bars around where the wires go into the hole from the controls. it's a whole hell of a lot easier to pull on the wires when you're pulling straight out rather than at that awkward angle. and you aren't putting as much stress on the connections of the cables. just be VERY careful and cut slow as to avoid the wires, and put a towel over your gas tank to avoid marring it up with anything. attached is a picture.

yes, the bars look like they belong on an xr80, and yes they are ruined... but i had absolutely no intentions of reusing them and they would just end up in the trash anyway.

bars are off. i used a torch to heat up the wire housing and they came out with out much of a fight. now i have a brand new issue.
