Replacing a Petcock

Been Around the Block
Hi,

I have a gs 450 tank that I will be mounting on my CB550F. The petcock is a vacuum one, and the carbs I have are not. Also, the current petcock hangs a bit low right now. I would like some more clearance between my carbs and the petcock. So...... I was thinking of buying an adapter plate from here:

And then buying a new, non vacuum, petcock.

Has anyone done this before? are there any recommendations or suggestions? Any feedback will be appreciated.

thanks

okay, i am going to buy one of these universal adapter plates and some new fuel lines. I also need to decide if I want to have a petcock with two fuel lines or one. My carbs currently permit two.

Would it be okay to just put a T joint in the lines from my carbs and have one coming from my petcock?

Also, any suggestions on what petcock I should buy to put into the universal adapter?

thanks everyone

Personally, I've NEVER had issues with vacuum petcocks (other than people putting them together wrong or 'new' alcohol fuels eating diaphragm)
CB550 has vacuum ports on manifolds, just fit an adapter and use a 1980 GS1100 tap, it's total height is about inch and a quarter (I bought 3 a few years ago for 'custom applications' 8) )

Pretty sure I have a pic of one fitted into a HD Sportster tank, I'll see if I can find it

That was easier than expected, here's pic

Had to make an adapter plate for the HD tank, should bolt right up to Suzuki tank
