Request: Sticky and separate section for Canada

Been Around the Block
Hi everyone,

While its pretty easy to get online parts retailers to ship to Canada, it can cost a fortune and most stores cater mainly ton their US customers. To add to that customs and brokerage fees can make purchasing parts through the US crazy expensive.

I wanted to purchase a carb rebuild kit from BikeBandit the other day and the cost of shipping was more expensive than the part itself.

Furthermore, its sometimes hard to find buyers and sellers on DoTheTon because its hard sift through hundreds of posts to find a few Canadian sellers.

As such, it would be greatly beneficial if we had a separate Canadian section for Buy/Sell/Trade & Online Sales.

What do the admins/mods/users think?

Problem is we have members in many countries, not just the US and Canada. 60% of our visitors are from the US, 9% from Canada and then it goes to the UK, Australia, Netherlands, France, Germany etc.

Being in Canada myself, I know the pain all too well of high brokerage fees and taxes.

There are a number of fairly well known Canadian places to get things like carb kits etc. Bullit Custom Cycles (sponsor of DTT) is Canadian, as is Town Moto, another DTT sponsor. For mail order carb kits, Sirius Con Inc is a decent source as well.

Hi Tim. I kind of guessed that would be an issue. But it seems as though we have a separate section for DTT Toronto, why not just have an larger subset for all of Canada. It would be easier to advertise and buy from each other as well.

If that's not possible, it would be nice to at least have a sticky thread where we could collect and store information on the best online sources. I think Canadians are in a unique situation where they are just across the border from a major source of parts.
