Rewiring a bike

Been Around the Block
Nothing terrifies me more than electrics on a bike and now I've come to rewire my project rebuild CB500t. It is my one weak area that I literally feel like a child again trying to do, the rest of the bike is no problem whatsoever

This is my first full rewiring of a bike, so I've got the engine complete and in the frame with forks, swing arms, wheels setup and I'm thinking how I should go about it.

Should I build the whole bike up and then try to wire it? My other issue is I also have several none stock parts with none stock connectors such as Dyna coils, Pamco etc. so will have to get my head around that too.

Anyone have any tips?

Hang in there. It's not as complicated as all that.

One circuit at a time. It's slower than say, doing all the grounds, then all the lights, etc. Planning can be done all at once (and should be) but when it comes to the actual wiring, start with the battery and charging circuit and go from there, one circuit at a time.

Yes. You have to know where every component is going to be mounted, in what orientation and how to get a wire from A to B. If you're still fabricating and changing things on the bike, you're likely to end up with short wires, wrong connectors and cursing. Don't be surprised, though, once you've planned your wiring if you have to take some components back off the bike to tuck the wiring in where it should be.

Your Dyna and Pamco parts will either have leads you can put whatever kind of connector on that you want, or they will have mating connectors available for you to buy.

All the links that Ichiban provided are valuable resources.
