Riddle me this????

well Today I took down the carbs and sprayed them with cleaner cleaned all passages....twice... checked float height was fine. Rebuilt the fuel tank cap.... wasn't clogged. Got the bike to start but was same crap intermittent working and not working. I felt it couldn't possibly be a fuel issue because i got some starter fluid and sprayed in the carb intake and nothing. Took the seat off and went through all the wiring there was no obvious short but i reinforced all connections with some electrical tape. Kick.... fire.....purrr.. got the idle screws/air screws set. purr putt putt purr....... GOt some new plugs out gapped em. Put em in. 1 kick purr let it idle for 3 min checked plugs. LEAN with the 30 pilot gonna wait on my other jets to get it tuned in. A fucking short it were...ha I don't get why when i checked the wires with my ohmeter i was getting 12 volts though. OH well. All I know is now I got myself a 1 kicker bike ...FUCK YEAH BABY

Thanks for all the help guys. In the end like always just got to go through the steps. I was ready to scream yesterday and now i got a smile ear to ear. Now to get er cleaned up a bit. I'm gonna keep this thread going as a carb tuning thread so if you want stay tuned.

Thanks again guys you're all awesome,
Ryan

Read through this thread, good to see how you troubleshooted it the proper way. Just to be sure for my own edification, was the problem a short? If so, what line/circuit was shorting out?

Thanks! Glad to hear your back up and running!

I honestly don;t know what was shorting but i think just my main hot bundle may have been contacting the electrical pan intermittently. It was quite strange as I was getting a spark just a weak one. I just reinforced all the connections and rechecked spark thick blue. BIke fired readily once the spark was adequate. So anyone who says you simply need "a spark" to get a bike to fire is dead wrong. You need a good spark and it needs to be well timed and reliably reproducible
