Riding jacket for the wife

OK I was out with my wife and we were looking at getting her a real riding jacket. She has a couple of leather jackets she wears when we ride now but we are hoping to do some more serious trips this season and I would like to get her something armoured and up to the level of at least my joe rocket. She tried a couple on but asked me to post the question here to see what other ladies have and why they like it before we commit the $$ to a jacket. So ladies, what do you have, and would you recommend it? And fellas if your wife rides what does she have and why?

Cheers,
Any feedback would be helpful as riding gear is pricey even on sale.

Hey Mike, ThompsonMX listed a site one time that had some nice jackets for cheap. I think it was jacketsforless or jacketsforbikes.com or something.

Hey Maritime Rich is correct kinda. Its http://www.jackets4bikes.com/ . The jackets are actually a pretty good quality. We dont have a ton of miles on them but they seem to be wearing well. They are heavy the protection is nice. I would say they are definitely worth the money.

i love my jacket more than anything. i have the ladies rev'it silica jacket, which is on the pricey side. but rev'it doesn't just take a men's jacket and make it a little smaller, they actually design it for women. it was out of my price range when i was looking for a jacket, but once i tried it on i couldn't consider another jacket. i saved up for 2 more months to get it. i have a joe rocket jacket as a back up too, and it's a much less expensive (but still good) option.

Thanks Guys. Lauren that is the info my wife wanted. I'll see if there is anyplace close to us that carry's Rev'it. A lot of the jackets we tried were not cut right for a women. Rich/Travis I will check that site out as well. I think we would rather save for a really good fit, as apposed to saving money and getting something she won't like wearing but a good deal can get us through until the right jacket can be found.

Thanks

my wife is queen of the jackets... actually her fav is harley as they seem to fit the best, has has 4, also got her a summer riding jacket from yamaha with armor in it, she hates it...
look at some route 66 jackets you can get them at farm and fleet they are really nice!

Maritime, another thing you could consider is looking for a used jacket on EBay or Craig's List, unless your wife has an aversion to previously worn clothes. I've picked up a number of really nice, high dollar leather jackets ranging in condition from vintage to barely worn for a fraction of their original cost. Just a thought........

Thanks JS, no aversion to used. We have been trying new ones to find the fit, then it is Ebay and Kijiji/craigslist to actually buy used or new whatever I can get a super deal on. My jacket was a 40.00 buy off ebay, retail was 259.99 here. I just made sure to go try one on so I got the right size when went looking. Doing the same with the wife. Having a harder time though so the feedback is good from here.

Cheers,

you really have to haver her try many jackets on. They all fit different. When it came time to get my wife her jacket she picked out a very nice retro Dainese jacket. Out of many of the jackets she liked it best because it fit her bust line well. And none of the brands sizeing seems to mean a hill of poop. She tried on 5 manufactures all the same number size, but a couple were too tight, some were too loose. The lady at the bike shop said the size number in the jacket is just so you know if you need smaller or larger LOL.

Yep, we discovered that. Issue here is very limited selection of brands etc. I am hoping to get to a larger area with bigger shops she can try more brands on. We even found different styles/models of the same brand fit way different sizes. She Tried Cloe Joe Rocket and it was a large, then another model and it was a medium, then another model and it was an XL. Sucks but we wrote any she liked down and if we hit Ebay ro CL etc. we will know what might fit. We only had Joe R, ICON, and a Chinese store brand to try. I have been trying to find closer dealers with some of the other brands mentioned her we can go try them on, the Cloe was the best of the ones she tried but still not a great fit. We usually get to NH in May with her parents, they have a time share and I know there are some large gear stores there we can hit and see if we can find something. The site Thompson100MX mentioned has some good deals on it, just wish we could try them on....

I have an unworn Hein Gericke sz 36 I may be willing to part with. Not sure it's my ladies style and she refused to jump on the back last season anyhow......
