Road Rash's Maxim Cafe Build

What fender is that on the front? That would look really good on my bike.

That's actually a stock fender that I shaved down. I took 6 inches off the front and about 5 off the back. Sorry, I know I promised pics. Still gotta take some more. Been busy with other things.

Alright, rolled the bike out of the garage for a few shots. Here ya go.

Still have to hand fab some custom side covers, but that's small stuff. she's ready to roll. FINALLY!!!

;D

Found ya. If I had had more time, I would have trimmed my fender a bit like that--looks good. Similar tank and mirror as mine. Those stock Maxim tanks leave a bit to be desired, in my humble opinion. Too much of an 80s comfort bike look (same as the Virago).

Yeah, exactly. This thing was bobbed out and completely camo'ed when I got it. Took a lot of work. Just waiting for some funds to get her inspected. Meanwhile, I'm hand-fabbing some new side covers and a rear splash shield to guard the electronics.

Just got mine out and about for its first extended ride. I did a quick "acceleration test" against my brother's 2001 Bonnie, and he had me out of the hole, but I got him at the top of 3rd gear and never looked back. I love it. 30 years old.

Thanks, Bobbed. you know, I really wish that I could rake it a bit more by raise the rear (rear shocks are roughly 3/4 inch longer than stock), but since it's a shaftie, I don't want to go too far and throw the shaft angles out of kilter and start to prematurely wear the internals of it. I have a rear SECA rim that I might put on that'll get me an extra inch lift, but right now, I just wanna get her on the road and ride!

Hey, just thought I'd re-visit my post with some final pictures of her, stick a fork in this thread and call her done. these were taken the day before the Steel City Mods Versus Rockers event, here, in Pittsburgh on Saturday:

metal pan?
seat foam- did you buy it thin? or is there a nice way to shape bigger pieces?
