Most of these older bike tanks have those kinda unsightly pinch weld seams on the tanks, and a little googling led me to this how-to video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPoTa-0fSTs
Theres lot's of different opinions out there regarding structural integrity and such when it comes to doing this, so I wanted to see if anyone from around these parts has done this to their tank and if they've experienced any problems. Opinions are okay too, I guess
I followed this video and rolled mine that way and I think it looks pretty good. My tank was very rough and pin-holed to begin with so I sealed it with Caswell sealer and all seams (get it) to be good.
Just my opinion, but I don't see the appeal. Seems like a waste of time, I've never really seen that type of weld as being unsightly. Just one crazy persons 2 cents.
HUGE, INSANE waste of time and only asking for trouble
this is what happens when you spend way more time staring at your bike or some lame ass bike online, rather than riding and ejoying it
just my humble opinion
Seems like the old school Brit bike riders object most to the pinched seam tanks. I always thought it was far easier to just slip a length of black plastic automotive door welting onto the seam. Kind of makes the seam blend into the under tank area.

Hey man, not much else to do while it's in a million pieces being rebuilt
Only reason I brought it up to begin with as my build is taking (in some cases, literally!) a lot of style/design cues from the Z1 900 which had the pinch welds underneath vs right on the edge as seen on the KZ650's, resulting in a MUCH smoother looking bottom edge.
