Room for two

This is the new project. I have a few ideas. Cafe it but make room for two somehow? The engine is out and a gasket kit has been ordered.

I am building a cafe and that's my dilemma too. I think building a cafe seat out of full foam and covering it would be the best. It looks really good, search up woody's cl350 build. It's a beautiful bike.

Use the search feature here... Theres a few guys that built cafe styled seats that could be converted. Or, you can make two seat pans. One race style, and one for a passenger. Nice bike BTW.

The 350 looks nice, i see what you mean by all foam, that could work.

Why not just use the stock seat
seats dont make cafes....

also cant really do low on the bars because if you do you need rearsets and then there is no place for the pass to put their feet.

If I were you i would get some superbike bars and not alot more...
nothing wrong with riding a stockish classic thats in good shape and works well as a bike and how you want to ride it
I would rather have that then something that was cut, not performing as well as stock and i cant use how i want it just to say its a cafe

by looking at the bike i would say that its a 70 or 71?
that said there are some VERY valuable stock parts on that bike. think about things before cutting or other wise changing things

something like this but with the light under the seat

you and the pass will want to die after a few miles with that...
low bars and stock pegs are uncomfortable at best and dangerous at worst on a 750.
and those seats do nothing in the way of being a seat...

Who cares about comfort, Form before function(sometimes)!! Hahaha

comfort can be a function that can be very valuable.

if the goal is to ride two up then comfort factors in.

I see alot of "form over function" builds where the bike is to uncomfortable or otherwise compromised to use as an actual bike..If it doesnt work as a bike then whats the function....it then becomes all about the function of looking at it at the starbucks parking lot......vicious circle no?

The reason id like a different seat is partially style partially what you said "valuable parts". I got the bike for $500 and i think if i sell the seat that could help offset that price. I know $500 is a deal, but im just out of college and loans are outrageous.

As far as low bars/ cafe style, i would like a slightly more cafe racer type bike. It doesn't have to be as extreme as the one in the picture, now that i look at it the bars on that one are a lot lower than mine. The bike will likely remain mostly stock.

Could you give me an example of super bike bars? Would that be something with just a little rise in them?

The bike is a 1971. Not planning on chopping anything....but maybe selling a few things.

Also this is my first legitimate bike (last bike was an imitation "Panther" made in Taiwan), so i'm thinking of safety too. I don't want to make it dangerous to ride.

look around for pics of the early CB750s with "euro" bars. my K came with them.
some guys have been known to run cb400F bars too.

Honestly just keep it the way it is and enjoy it for a while and sell it on when you decide that you want a cafe.
They bike the way it is will never work better for two people then it will now.
and the money that you make when you sell it on will give you a nice bank roll to build whatever you want at that point.
yes you can sell off some of the valuable parts now but then as a whole afterward you will not get as much for the bike.

$500 is a great price for a K1
