Round Key Ignition Switch - Does it work?

Has anybody wired up on of these round key options that Harley's run on their CB's? Just trying to figure out if its relatively simple or if it's just better to buy the standard keys with a square plug.

This is what I'm talking about -

Thanks for the help.

All ignition switches do the same thing.

Should be easy enough to adapt that one to any bike.

If you are replacing the stock switch, and want to maintain the stock operation, that switch won't work....However, it can be used if you modify the wiring slightly....Stcok ignition has 4 wires...The 4th wire is the taillight, which comes on in the Park position....Moving that wire to the 12V of the new switch will allow the system to work, but you will lose the park position function. Personally, I never use the park position as iit just runs the battery down....

However, if your state has inspections and check this, that would be a reason to stay stock....

Also, if you have a seat lock, fork lock, they can be keyed alike, going non-stock means extra keys, if you are using it....

Also keep in mind, those barrel key cylinders can be "picked" easily with a Bic pen ;)

LOL its a motorbike it'd take like 2 seconds to cut some wires and hot wire the bike :p

That's why my XS doesn't have a key - just a toggle switch. But good luck finding it ;)
