RPM goes high after handlerbars changed HELP!

Hello guys
I'm having problem with my 84' BMW r80rt since I changed my handlers into clip on,RPM goes 1800 then when it about to idle engine rpm is climbed to 3000,I follwed the manual on how to align the throttle gear cable to the throttle tube,checked all cables,choke and throttle they all seem ok.Throttle not even sticking or what so ever but can't firuge it out why the rpm climbing once it idle or stay at 1800.any help is much appreciated.



P.S.
I rechecked the spark plug gap and cleaned the air filter box before I changed my handlerbars.

Stock carbs? Try removing the controls from the clipons and hold them in the more natural position - same thing happen? I'd think you'd want shorter cables if you're going to clipons.

Thx Tim for the replay,yes carbs are stock no engine mod just the clipons conversion,will try later your idea of removing the control and see how goes.
