Rubber for Seat Pan

Whats a good rubber to put under the seat pan so you wont feel the vibrations as much? I heard rubber hockey puck? but their HUGE. im thinking of finding something like the rubber used in the front of the tank to frame.

Go to an auto parts store and look around in the section with exhaust system parts. A lot of exhaust system hangers are a big chunk of rubber.

I also used treads from old tires for all sorts of things. They make a great replacement for the rubber pad on a motorcycle jack.

You want a softer rubber to dampen vibration. A hockey puck wouldnt do much...

Look for a rubber floor mat. The soft ones that a lot of stores use behind the counter. About 1/2-3/4 inch thick.

I use chunks of a big rubber truck mud flap i bought a couple years ago. It comes in handy from time to time for stuff like this

You can find rubber stoppers at medical equipment suppliers or maybe winemaking suppliers. They have the same density as the rubber damping parts on your bike.

I second Dr. J's reccomendation - the #6 rubber stoppers I use to cap my 1 gallon jugs of beer while they're fermenting are really close to the size and density of the rubber pieces on my CL350 seat. Check your local homebrew supply store, which is typically the cool Mom & Pop beer store that has everything. Pick yourself up something nice while you're there too! ;D

Not that I've used it in a motorcycle application, but something I use a lot on bicycles is rubber mastic tape aka self-amalgamating tape aka self-fusing tape, made for electrical wrapping.

Stretchy rubber-as you wrap it, once stretched, it sticks to itself and forms a solid mass. Useful for a LOT of things. Was thinking that wrapped around frame rails, might do what you need it to do, and easily tailored for size/thickness.
