K so i got this thing as partial payment for some work i did. I sat on the project for almost 5 years before i decided to get rollin on it. Basically its a 1970 bonnie that sat at least since 1979 (according to the plate on the tail). The thing sat for many years outside, then put under a tarp or something in some guys storage shed at a cottage. After that it sat in a friends garage under gardening stuff, christmas stuff and spare/scrap wood. I finally got a heater in my "shed" and some time to put towards this project.. its not done, but i'll post its progress as it happens.
bike without engine, I had already removed it and taken it to work to disassemble and inspect..
Engine pics.. after inspection, I decided it was worth saving, and took it to Roger at Ton-up bikes in Scarboro.

oil tank before and after some work..
toolbox side before and after some work...
so i am working on the frame, electrics and basically everything but the engine. wish me luck.
It looks like the bike was complete, so that is half of the battle won right there. These bikes in my opinion are some of the best looking ever produced, can't wait to see updates.
even tho i could do a resto, there is no way! Its gettin caffeinated. here's the plan ...
-I'd like to lose the oil tank for something more bobberish..
-ugly mini ape's are going for clubmans.
-Nasty bench seat is going for something solo (but convertable to a 2up for the gf's tag-alonging)
-fenders gone or at least chopped.
-taillight getting smaller, possibly moving to the side.
-exhaust chopped and made louderish
-air filters lost for velo stacks
Another Triumph owner told me the 70 Bonnie is unique in that the top end can be disassembled while still in the frame? Is this true? BTW if you're going to toss that apehanger I'll gladly take it off your hands.

its true.. not easy by any means.. i had to partially take the top end apart to get it out of the frame. needless to say, Roger will be putting it back in!
i'll send u the stats on the hangers, lemme know what u think. I need to grab some clubbies first.
Re: Sammo's 1970 Triumph bonneville project. NEW PICS! 04/16/09
I didnt realize that the triumph motorcycle company and the triumph car company where the same thing. and used similar names like the TR6 Kinda funny to see how uncreative the naming could be.
