Scrambler KZ400

So, I've progressed some on the street scrambler KZ.

I had some pipes made up. It's hecticly load now!!

Took all the paint of the tank down to the metal with the intention of just doing a clear coat over the bare metal. I wanted a pretty rough look. Then there was a tiny dent on the top right of the tank which I tried to repair.....As to be expected, it looked like a balls up. So the decision was to put a pin stripe over the dent....it turned out nice.

Here are some pics with the Jerry cans. I have taken them off and will probably put some leather or military bags on. It actually looks better without the cans on. We have a cafe racer meeting on Sunday. I'm gonna make an appearance with it there.

Sorry StepSide03, I decided to ditch the gas cans. We had a cafe racer get together (CROSA - Cafe Racers Of South Africa) over the weekend and I had to get it looking as good as possible.

It actually looks much better without the cans....

Here are a few pics:

The KZ is an awesome little bike. It's light, smooth, has kickstart and electric start, handles fantastically, especially with the big tyre in the front and and is super comfortable. It only lacks a bit in power.

The SR is hard, vibrates like hell but has a nice pull and handles pretty well too.

Time to move them along and start my next build. I've bought a 1979 Honda CX500 with 12800km on the clock, in original condition.

Damn that's a huge license plate...

KZ came out really nice. Of course, I'd probably turn it into a hardtail high bar if I had it... my bikes always seem to end up that way. Been eyeballing my old Scrambler turned TT racer and the iron pile lately. It doesn't bode well for my toys when I'm unemployed except for the farm...

I dig the look of bobbers and hard tails but I like to ride my bikes and they have to handle and go well. I can't deal with a bike that doesn't have suspension at the back... :-\

The CX build is going to probably be a WrenchMonkeys ripoff with a few minor tweeks.

@WrenchMonkeys. I hope you don't have copyrights on that design.... ;)
