Seat Pad Question

I noticed at Barber, that 99% of the racers just had a pad glued to the seat. They were all black, about 1.5" thick.

Does anyone know where I can get ahold of some of that material, and what it is exactly?

I got mine from Pat at Pacomotorstuff: http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=35597.msg384961#msg384961

I will warn you that it is not that comfortable. Imagine being at a football game sitting on a seat pad on metal bleachers. That is all the comfort it affords. It is better than sitting on a metal seat though.

A 1/2" pad is fine for a race bike. Airtech and others sell the stuff. But a race including warm up lap and cool down is typically 15-20 minutes. I'd hate to ride any distance on that.

I was going to go the airtech route, but i'm really cheap. Tried to find neoprene sheets, but it's hard to find. Ended up getting a closed cell foam pad made for flooring in a gym or kids play area. ended up being under $5 for a 2'x2' piece. its about 1/2" thick. used 3m spray adhesive to attach it to the tail section i made. wish i had a better pic. made a template, cut it out with a razor blade, used a die grinder with a 3m 60grit disk to round the edge just a bit, put the textured side down. looks just like custom cut race seat pads.
