Hey folks, I have a 71 cb500 cafe racer I restored completely. Bike rides amazing. The only think I don't like is these old school brakes. I have more money into the bike then I originally wanted to spend. I'm asking 5k for the bike. Please if you have any questions call or text my cell at 215-262-7145.

$5K is a lot, especially given the tires, lack of front fork brace, and some other issues. Let me ask you this, though: looks like you tried a couple air filter set ups, and then in a couple of the photos looks like you ran without filters. How much did you ride this thing without air filters?

I had pods at first but they sucked. Ran it with screens for a day. Then got the uni filters and it rides great

Hey man. Beautiful bike! I actually live right across the river in NJ. I wish I could afford your bike, but Im working on a 550 budget build already, so no extra cash to spare. I'm sorry to ask you a question on your post for selling the bike, especially knowing that I can't buy it, but I also noticed the air filters as well. The only reason I ask you is because it seems like Im having a similar issue. I bought the cone style ones from DCC and with them on, the bike runs like shit. I have synced the carbs and all of that, she runs great without filters, but once I put the cone ones on she bogs down and eventually stalls.

I was wondering if the cone ones you did have on there were from DCC? Im trying to figure out if its just me or if those filters are trouble? And lastly, Im guessing your bike ran better with the UNIs better than the cone ones?

I was debating ditching the cones for stacks or UNIs. I saw that you seemed to have a similar issue, figured I would ask.

Thanks and good luck with the sale, she looks great.

I don't get it. It has crap tires and no muffler, no front fender of fork brace and skimpy rear fender, no chainguard and that should make it a $1500 bike at best. What am I missing? I'm not trying to be rude. I just do not get how a few small and non effective changes and a lot of missing parts makes for a 5k bike.

with 17 posts I don't think he realised that most folks here look at that bike and see all the stuff they would have to fix to make it ridable. I was going to type the exact same thing but you beat me to it. It looks cool, but I wouldn't ride it without fixing all the things you pointed out.

Exactly what happened to me. Bought dcc pods and they sucked. Bought uni and the bike is great

Well at least Im not the only one! I guess I'll start looking into the UNIs.

Thanks again man. Good luck! Maybe one day I'll see ya out on the road..

I dumped almost 4k into this bike not including the bike itself. Having everything power coated, rebuilt the motor, the carbs, the forks, new shocks. Shaved the frame. Welded in plates under the seat for the electric. Updated the electric and built a new wiring harness. I thought hard work would pay off, but I guess not.

This is what thinks looked like.

It's a good looking bike and you did a great job on it. Doesn't mean someone's gonna pay $5k for it in this market. I've got a Sportster that's been up for sale for $4k for almost a year and it still hasn't sold. The reason "companies" like Gravel etc. can sell bikes like that is because they have a name and a reputation. You have neither a name nor a reputation. Not saying you don't do good work, but unless you're established, you're just another moto-nut like the rest of us. Welcome to the club!
