Setting timing - Hondaman Ignition

Been Around the Block
So I am in the process of setting the timing on my CB360. I just installed a Hondaman Ignition kit. I set the gap to 0.013" and I hooked up the timing light to begin static timing. I unplugged the spark plugs, turned on the electricals and started to crank the engine. My timing light is not turning on at all. Do I have to disconnect the Hondaman Ignition to do set the timing?

I got word that the Hondaman Kit should not interfere with timing, and that it should stay connected for this procedure. I am scratching my head on this one ???
Here be some pics of the setup (spark plugs are in because I took these after I gave up)

New Points installed and gap set at 0.013" (green wire is Hondaman Ignition ground wire):

For anyone interested in this jam, here is an email I got back from Mark, who created the Hondaman Ignition:

[size=10pt][size=10pt]Oh, I see...you're using a static timing light....
Now, with static timing lights: the bulb you are using is probably a 12v-15volt bulb. The Ignition only delivers about 3 to 6volts to the points, so that bulb won't light. You could possibly use a voltmeter, set to about 20 volt range: when the meter indicates voltage, it would be the same as when the lamp was supposed to light up.

I'm sorry about my earlier e-mail: I though you were using a real timing light (like a strobe). This method you are using is called the "static timing" method. The bulb is usually called an "indicator" light instead of a "timing" light, here: I suspect the instructions at HondaTwins just has it misnamed.

OK, so first, you need to check these 2 things, because I can't tell from the photos:
1. Make sure the ring terminal on the Ignition's GREEN wire is not touching the spring on those right-side points: that will short out the signals. If you need to, maybe move that ring terminal to the top screw on the points?
2. Make sure your YELLOW and BLUE wires on your points are not touching the baseplate: that, too, will short out the signal.

Now, to set the timing statically...you must unplug the Ignition from the BLUE & YELLOW points wires, and plug the points into the coils directly again. After you have set the timing with the HondaTwin instructions, then plug the Ignition back in.

Or, just get (borrow?) a regular timing strobe light (like for a car), and use that. It's easier, actually, but requires that all the rest of the engine is ready to run, because you must run it to set the timing "live". Contact me again if you need separate instructions for tht method: it's the more commonly-used method.
