So I just got hooked up by my neighbor with an extension cord thru the wall! So with that said you wont be seeing my garage in garage journal but im interested in what others are using or get the most use of in there small garage/shop. Mostly excited to have light so I can work when I get done with work.

limitations: wel its a 120V extension cord from my neighbor so I cant be blowing his circuits

Is a really odd garage its almost the length of 2 cars and barely width of one. I already have a gorilla work bench and as far as electric powered tools I have only a dremel and craftsman 19v cordless drill, palm sander, circle saw. I know its hard to give suggestions without more detail but im looking to see what people in small spaces with out 220 are really finding usefull? mini fridge? pancake compressor? etc?

Heres the garage when I first moved in about 2 years ago and present, it quickly has filled up with my girlfriends stuff and more toys.

The only thing I could recommend is a better electrical supply . Seriously 1 110 extention cord isn't gonna do anything for you but maybe run one thing at a time.

Yah problem is its a rental so Id have to pay an electrician to come run from my apartment up on the next $treet. I guess ill just be happy with my light for now.

my "must haves"
- belt sander
- drill press
- grinder
- impact
- good drill
- die grinder

- other than that most of my stuff is all air tools

organize organize bud... i did a full build write up on my garage make over about 2 months ago if you watnt o check it out

I put the air compressor at the top of my garage list. Once you have that, many other things become possible. Seriously, what kind of a garage is it if you can't even pump up a low tire? ;)

This is great info. Im not sure if ill be able to run a air compressor for air tools but definatly get a small one for tires and cleaning things. My nieghbor who fed me the extension thru the wall just told me there breaker trips when the microwave, TV in there apt and power tools in garage are on at the same time! There running the extentsion coard from there apt to the garage and then to mine haha.

First things first.

Lights.. check.
Battery tenders!... check.

We have one of those rechargeable battery powered compressors, they are very convienient for airing up tires. But not much good for anything else.

You could always invest in a small gasoline generator. You can get one for about $100 at Harbor Freight. Thell put out enough power to run two electrical tools at once, but theyre loud...

I don't know your situation but why not start looking around for a place with a garage . Might be a little more than your paying now but it might be worth it

for the location and price ive got a smoking deal, apartment is great just lacks necesities in the garage. I guess Ill get a few extra 19v batteries for my craftsman portable tools and keep the chargers in the garage now.

Thats cool work with what ya got will make you appriciate when you get in a new space ahell of alot more

this is a very good list. :) Also how much do you want to spend? I would recomend a gas powered air compressor (used) and a 4,000 watt generator (used if needed). The generator will serve well in black outs for your house too. Also you can get some of the above tools in a cordless version, but they are bank! Snap On makes a cordless impact that is stronger than most air impacts, but it is also $600.
