Should I be intimidated by carbs?

I grew up in the EFI era, I used to go to college auto tech after highschool three days a week and we were never taught about carbs lol. I remember as a kid, my dad and cousins trying to rebuild the carb of an old El Camino we had and that old quadrajet was a pain in the ass with so many parts. I would much rather have an EFI I could hook up a computer to in order to make adjustments and changes to the pulse but digress :D

My carbs need to be rebuilt and adjusted and more than likely jetted as the last owner put a 4 to 1 exhuast and has pods. Plus when I change out my head gasket, I plan on buying a cycle x cam and beehive spring kit so I will probably need a lot of tuning. I've never rebuilt carbs before and it seems like I would need disassambly all over again to change adjustments, should I be intimidated by these things? How hard is it to do? I've rebuilt Chevy 350's before so that is my skill level if you could guage it but I am a child of the nintendo era with OBDII just becoming a requirement when I started driving ;D

By the sounds of it, you are talking about a SOHC4. If so, No, you should not be intimidated rebuilding those carbs. The PD's can be a little tricky but the regular ones you should be fine. Jetting them with pipe, pods and a cam may take some time to tune though.
