Should I buy this bike? 1972 XS250 special

Hi all

Firstly, I'm in Australia, but don't mind shipping parts from O/S when necessary.

the cb250 I was looking at sold from under me, and there isn't a great deal in my price range here but I have been kinda looking at an old xs250 special for the past couple of months.

The listing says reliable and serviced, rego'd etc. I'm wondering a few things. Firstly are parts still available? Will I have to completely refit the bike to be able to change brake pads etc? What about shockies, I imagine that a lot of things that may need replacing will be available as aftermarket stuff that suits other bikes, but specific things like gasket kits and rings/bearings/pistons and rods etc. Difficult to get or not? Chains and sprockets etc? Just the everyday maintenance items that you may need more than once, as opposed to full rebuild stuff which I'd only need once. Would I be stupid to buy this bike for an everyday ride?

Can you get em to sing? I don't need to cruise at the ton or anything but it would be nice if I could aim for such a thing. 70mph as a cruising speed would be enough for me, is this bike capable in its standard form?

Cheers

Glenn

get it...... strike up a deal with the Bloke....beat him down a bit ya know $$$. I have an XS360 and it's a great bike I'd get another in a second if the deal was good. Parts aren't impossible to find. I bet if you jetted the carbs put Uni filters and put more open pipes on it it would cruise to 70mph with ease....One thing I noticed about mine is If I ride it WIDE OPEN on the highway the carbs use more gas than they take in so it may need to be jetted to get the most out of it in stock form

Not for very long. That's a bit of an ask for an old 250 single.
