Should I pressure test?I

Yeah I meant the air duster. I went ahead and just blew through a hose. Everything seemed ok. I think Im going to try to do a rattle can job until winter blows over.

Yeah that makes sense. Just to keep the rust off of it. What kind of paint are you going to use? If you're going to use the rattle can job tank on the bike, keep a rag handy for when you fill up so gas doesn't get on it.

Im priming it with Rustoleum automotive primer. I bought some Rustoleum Enamel. Id really like to get my hands on some 2K Clearcoat. I primed it right after drying the tank off so surface rust should be an issue. As for the long term I will be careful when filling up

I just ordered a brand new tank for my Harley. Its bare metal. I also bought the KREEM tank liner kit. Is a pressure test still necessary if I have the tank sealer?

What kind of tank did you buy? I am looking to replace my sportster tank with semething else.

Thanks

I bought a replacement. It's the 2.4 gallon sportster replica tank. I didnt want to go with the "King" tank because it is a bit wider. I would suggest trying to find a used one before you buy a brand new tank. I couldnt find a used one so I had to buy a new one.

Seriously how hard can it be to get a tigwelded tank gas proof? If you can't get that right you should put the torch down and get a job at McDonald's.. so sick of jackass welders, it makes life for us pro's a bitch.
It's sad you can't buy a new gas tank without feeling the need to pressure test it!

+1 what Data said. Really, Do you preasure test your tires before putting them on new? Do you seal test floats before installing them in your Carb? Do you test brake lines before you put them on? Do you test oil seals before installing them?
Come on! A new tank is just that, new. I have put a few on cars and never even dreampt of testing them first. Buy reputable, and those people will stand behind thier products.

it is sooo incredibally EASY to test a tank for leeks, that if it was me, i would do it no matter what
the time and money spent on a new paintwork job is worthy of the LESS than 5 minutes it takes to test for leeks
hindsight sucks
