Great thread idea! I'm an obsessive collector when it comes to my interests, for awhile I was really into collecting guns, mainly AK's. Now I'm back to obsessing over vintage jap bikes lol. Here's some shots of my babies...

Edit to note all guns pictured are semi auto and compliant with U.S. regulations on such weapons. In other words, they're all legal.

Most of my knives/guns stay locked in a safe, slowly accumulating value. It's no different than any other hobby in that you can't expect someone who isn't interested to understand the motivation involved. Some of my knives and guns are worth several hundred dollars or more and I could see how someone who isn't into them could say 'why would you spend all that time and money collecting all that shit?' much like those who say 'why would you spend all that time and money modifying an old motorcycle?'.

I told my son when he was small that guns were only for killing...... if you weren't killin' or practicin' you didn't need a gun. Then I took a few apart, showed him how they worked...... and took him shooting a few times, as did the Boy Scouts. I always kept the ammo locked up seperate from the guns. He never offered to bother any guns or ammo without my supervision. Most of us who have kids and guns do the same thing. I had my first firearm at the age of 11.........

There have been threads with pics of guns and knives before, and there will undoubtedly be threads about them again. We have threads with girls on motorcycles in various states of undress, discussions about politics and religion...

They're legal, people collect them, and sure, they don't have much to do with motorcycles, but at least now I know who's bikes not to steal.

In my former Career I was a Designated Marksman in the Army, and a Competition shooter, so firearms were a large part of my livelyhood. After I was retired out for wounds received, I was an Armorer and Training Officer for a Federal Agency. Here are a few of mine.

First up is the Custom AR-15 I built this year from blank upper and lower receivers.

This is my preferred home-defence Piece, a Smith and Wesson M66 .357 Magnum.

My Favourite rifles, Swiss K31's, straight-pull bolt action rifles, absolutely beautiful workmanship, and as accurate as they come.

My Target rifle, Savage 10fp in .308
