Silicon Recifier on the coils?

According to the parts diagrams on bikebandit this is a silicon recifier. Anyone know what its function is since it's seperate from my main rectifier? Wiring is not my strength and I'm reworking my wire harness as some of you might have seen in my build log so any input is helpful.

green/red line wire.....starter selinoid (removed along with starter motor)
light green/red line.....neutral light (removed dummy lights)

I've set the bike up to be kick only so is this part still needed?

What bike?
Looks Honda?
probably part of the 'logic circuit' which prevents electric start working when in gear

Hey PJ

It's a 1975 cb500t and it being part of the 'logic circuit', like you put it, makes sense. Any chance you can explain how that circuit works?

One might even say, "logical". :p

as per service honda dot com ;D,,that part to the best of my eye sight :-\ is described as a magnet shock?????????,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,collision shut down,,,or had way too many pints jumped on her and it fell over,, stopped,,,,,so did ewes ::)....I suspect that it was thought you couldn't have fun being pinned under the bike,,,,,,,frying body parts ;D....anyways thats my fried legs worth :D

It's a diode to prevent power back feeding from neutral light if bike is in gear.
You have a clutch switch (unless it's been removed/modified) so bike won't electric start in gear without clutch pulled in.
