Single carb on a twin cylinder with a 180 Degree Crank ?

Been Around the Block
Hey guys I have been searching the web and have found numerous posts stating that a 2 into 1 carb wont work correctly on a twin cylinder engine that uses a 180 degree crank (my yamaha xs400 for instance) Can anyone shed some light on the best scenario for doing this? Should i be jetting more for this setup or get a bigger carb? I am planning on starting out with my stock BS34 carb and go from there. Many say it will run lean on one cylinder rich on the other. Has anyone had experience with running a single carb on a 180 degree crank bike ?

I am not trying to gain anything. My tank and seat combo with my petcock are forcing the 2 into 1 carb mod. I know there are few if any running it on a 180 degree tank just need to hear from those limited few to see what there setup is like. The question is not if I am doing it because that choice is already made. The question is more or less how to tune it the best possible way with a 180 degree crank.
