Single rail trailer for behind the family car.

I guess we can stick a pin in this one and call it done. Spent the afternoon wiring it up. Next week sometime (hopefully) ill take it to get it weighed so I can register it and get a tag. I also need to get a lower hitch for the car to level it out.

Here in Canukistan (in Ontario at least) I can walk into the MTO (our DMV) tell them I have a home made trailer, no serial, no details, and for $30 they give me a registration and lifetime plate for it. Slap that plate on anything you happen to be towing and you're golden.

Here in Ohio, it's just one step more than that, getting it weighed. Otherwise it's pretty much the same. If I already had a trailer you better believe this one would have that plate on it haha

Same here, homebuilt is one cost no matter the weight. It has tonpass a safety inspection annually but they may be ditching that again which is nice cause I never remember to do that

I took the trailer in to get it weighed. It rolled across the scales at 280 lbs. curb weight. It's a little heavier than my original goal, but still not bad. It bounces over rough roads empty, but I'm guessing a bike on there will help alot. On smooth roads, you truly can't tell its back there. I'm thankful for the ramp sticking up in the back. Without a bike on it, it is the ONLY thing you can see in the mirrors.

Edit: just went and read my own first post. I said I wanted sub 300lbs. Ha goal achieved.

Very professional looking build, nice work. I'd be afraid to own one of those though, would be far too easy to bring home new project bikes, garage would be totally blocked. :p

I've been saying all along that it needs a flag on that post where the spare tire mounts... or a raccoon tail.

The equinox is equipped with a console display back up camera. I'm trying to sort out if I can hack into the system and be able to activate it while in drive.

I added a backup camera to the GL1800 for pulling the little Uni-go trailer. Helps some, but backup cameras are a little too wide field for trailer backing. That rail and learning a landmark to line up with in the 'nox when going straight will be most valuable. Luckily the trailer is light enough that you can get out and scoot it around by hand if needed.

When the bike is on it, it will seem a lot easier to back.

Levi, I'm gonna be "Safety Guy"...
Loose the carabiners and get proper hooks with latches. The safety chain components should be rated higher than the maximum working load of the trailer.
Also, you should really have a pin in the clamp latch ;)

Make that a lock. Even empty trailers have been disappearing lately from truck syops, motels, etc. right off the back of the pull vehicle. Last year a pickup, trailer, and the Cobra show car inside was stolen overnight at a motel. Truck was finally recovered, but not the rest.

Haha busted! I wondered if anyone could catch that. Real Towing chains are in the mail. Those were made up of bits I had laying around the garage to just be enough to get it weighed and not draw obvious attention that they aren't there. As far as the pin, I already have a locking one that is on my uncle's trailer in storage I just haven't grabbed yet. Y'all got some eagle eyes and Chris, you act like you pull stuff for a living or something LOL
