Single stage paint sanding and buffing

Hey guys, so I'm far from good at painting I'll admit but due to a time crunch and finances at the moment I decided to paint a tank. The weathers been horrible here in NC lately but it was looking as if my best time to paint was last night. So I did and was fairly happy with the results. There is a slight bit of orange peel and what looks like fish eye In the front of the tank. I used a single stage paint 1 very light coat 2 medium coats and 1 heavy coat. My question is can single stage paint be wet sanded and buffed it's a matte finish paint. If so what grit paper and is there a specific compound that anyone uses for single stage paint with a matte finish

If it is a matte finish, then no, it cannot be buffed without making the finish glossy. Why did you do so many coats? You should only need 2 medium coats with single stage.
