Skyteam Ace 125: Stalling and start up issues on my new Ace, anybody?

First bike, first post.

I've been noticing my bike has had a few issues regarding idling. Wondering if anyone has experienced similar issues when the bike was being run in?

The bikes stalls with and without the choke on initial start up. Have to keep the throttle pulled back at least a little or it will stall. Had a few incidents where it has just died upon take off and took a few attempts to start back up again. The bike itself has almost hit 100km... still very new. It is winter in Australia, however, it has not been particularly cold when I've run into these issues. Around 20 Celsius and riding at least once a day.

Do I just need to get my carburetor adjusted? Or is it just part of christening my new Ace with a few longer rides?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome!

What you've described is not unusual up until 1000kms. After that, you won't even need the choke! Removing the EGR Valve can mitigate the issue you have mentioned also. Take a read through the first 20-30% of the resource thread and you'll come across more details. Easy modification to do!

As Chris has said, it's probably just a case of new 'Ace' syndrome!

I think we have all had some peculiar behaviour until we get some miles on the clock.

What part of Oz do you hale from?

Hi Chris and Crazy,

Thanks for replying. Trolled through some of the other threads on the Skyteam resource; there is much to think about in terms of modifications. Especially evolving it from a Learner/Provisional bike to a cafe racer to be reckoned with.

Living in Wollongong. Got my Ace from the good people at Motociclo in St Peters, Sydney

Mine is same spec. Just waiting for a few mods to be completed and compliance/wof.

I see you ended up with the rear adjustable shocks. I, and a few other black ace owners, seem to have got those. It seems red Ace owners got the non adjustable shocks with a chrome shroud and lots of them replaced the shocks with better ones. Will be interesting to see how ours go.

If you haven't seen it already there are lots of ideas for mods here...

Thanks for the spreadsheet. Definitely need a new set of mirrors. Not sure if its just my height but visibility isn't great. Then onto a OOracing 303 tune up kit, seems like a small investment for big returns.

Weather permitting, there will be a bunch (3) of 'Aces' at Bald Hill about 9:30am (ish) tomorrow if you can make from the 'Gong.
