SL100 - Summer fun.

I migrated this thread from another one I started on a different forum. This place a bit more focus on what I am trying to accomplish
-----------------------------------------------

I put together a pretty nice cb125 last summer. This summer I'm going to try to do a little flat tracker trail cafe mash up. I'm trying to stay under 1000$ total. So far I'm in the bike 150$ probably not worth even that. Clean title tho and the motor has compression. I need a battery as the previous owner said it starts pretty good but idles high. We'll find out.

Battery: I plan on going with a SLA (sealed lead acid) as I did on my R90. In the case it will be 6v / 6ah. I found a few on amazon at 6v 6.5ah which I will use and cost me a whopping 12$. Shipped. I just can't seem to find one with post. Most have the crappy flat connectors.

Between now and then I'll pull as much off as possible. and just start cleaning it. Like i said I don't want to invest a crazy amount of time in this one. or money.

If anyone had a small headlight 6v they wanna sell for cheap let me know.

Gotta keep pulling everything off.

Its seems pointless to get a carb kit when I can get a carb for the same price. Garbage carb off fleabay but I've heard of people having success w them.

Just gotta find out if the cb100 and sl100 share the same part.

I can say with a bit of confidence that I feel alot better working on bikes since last year.

Any suggestions welcomed

Cool man,
Im picking up a cb125 here soon so Ill be watching!

looking forward to seeing the build!

Currently building a scramble tracker myself need to get some welding done though and sort out a seat!

Neat stuff.

If you need a few bucks to put towards the build, shoot me a price on the SL tank. I'd love to have it for a future project.

I'm watching this.

Hopefully I'll pick up some pointers.

I'll try and help you also.

My little cb100 has a seized engine and has rust throughout.

Giving me the fits.

SL100 - Summer fun.

I ordered new MX perches cheapies , OEM honda grips, exhaust wrap since mine is hideous, carb rebuild kit OEM.

I couldn't bring myself to use a cheap carb when the OEM one is always best, Ill just rebuild it and clean it up nicely.

Ill get a headlight at the local motorcycle junk yard but if anyone has any cool 6v alternatives I'm all ears. I can't seem to find anything other than the stock honda units

Local motorcycle junk yard.........where are you located, that you have motorcycle junk yards?

Wish there were some around here.

Good call on the carb.......can't beat the oem.

It's nice to have around but a bit overwhelming.

Yeah, I can see how it would be overwhelming...........................................

I would be there at a minimum every weekend.

Every day, if they stayed open long enough.

Still, I wish there was one close enough to visit occasionally.

I almost asked if that was bob's. A buddy at work was telling me to check bob's out. Never been there so... that's why I asked. I totally down to meet up. I have no cafe friends yet. I'm working on my project at work which is out in Apache Junction. It's my first build so I could most defiantly use some advise and maybe some support.

PM me

Oh and dude, nice airhead. I was trying to get a r75/5 off this guy in Tucson for a few months. He lived right down the road from a friend of mine, and he had them just sitting out in his front yard just rotting away. But the guy would not part with them. He said "I'm going to restore them".

I live in Gilbert so it's on your way to AJ. Thanks, I put the bimmer together last summer. Now ride it every other day. Easiest bike I've ever worked on. Bobs is a no brainer but can be a bit overwhelming. So much shit. Feel free to hijack this thread w your bike anytime. And pm me if you want to contact me outside of the forums.

This is what I have done to my sl so far. Doing just a bit of mockup. I removed the fenders of course, I replaced the top tree with a 1976?... top tree and ran the forks through. I also flipped the instrument cluster mount upside down and welded on some tabs to keep the vintage look but to lower the gauges to keep the "UN-touched" look. I also installed my woodcraft 31mm clip-ons to do some verification/fitment. I am planning on building a tail section(bump)/ seat pan out of either an old tank or some sheet metal. Got the engine running already. It runs very well. The bike has only 1100 and some change on it, so I believe I gave it it's first oil change (it only took 42 years). sense this is my first build, I am going to take some time. Although, I can not wait to run this little fella, down to the pavilions to show off a bit. It will be a while though (sadly).
