So it begins. Honda 1975 CB500T

Doing it for the first time
It's been awhile since I posted, but I finally got my bearing. I decided not to get the bike motorcycle ready to ride this year. Instead I got the rims powder coated at Like New Parts in Pekin, Illinois. I went with a flat white with high gloss, probably the tank as well. Turned out just like I wanted. I bought some new shoes since mine had dry rotted. Still waiting on my master cylinder rebuild kit. Color scheme as of now, Brass, white, and brown. I'm going to have the tank dented more and have some bondo work done to fill emblem area.

Questions: I would like some smaller gauges, any recommendations? I'm thinking of having the frame powder coated in a brass finish, thoughts? To complement the brass frame, Lucky's has brass finish shorty baffles. That's all for now, any advice is much appreciated.

Regards

Nice, I have a 500t I'm doing right now too.

Did you powdercoat the wheels completely built or did they lace them up after?

For the gauges I'm using a TrailTech Vapor. built a little bracket to mount it right in front of the upper triple tree. Really clean and low, but I have clipons as well so there's nothing blocking the view like the stock bars might.

So jealous of the 500T. I want one really bad.

Like the color scheme. Try Body Solder for the emblems. It wont crack on you down the line like bondo will. It's not intended to fill that deep of a hole, only small imperfections in the surface. That's why it gets such a bad wrap, its being used improperly.

I had them powder coated completely built. Thanks for the gauge tip. I would like to see a picture of the bracket you made.

* Thanks for the tip on the Body Solder. I have no clue about body work or rebuilding a motorcycle in general. Just know what I like and the budget I have.

Cheers

That's alright, man. That's how most of us started! Then you get people throwing ideas and advice at you and your budget and idea of cool gets sent in to outer space!

Will you enjoy having a bike that someone else worked on to make it what it is or would you enjoy feeling the accomplishment of building your own bike more?

2001 F150.

That's why I'm conflicted. I'm not sure what I want to do now. It would be a pretty even trade, and I can always buy another bike to restore and ride this one. I'll update with my decision.

hahaha, in my country the F150 would be worth 2 - 3 x what the bike is worth!!
