Keep teaching us. Good to learn the tricks.
all right then
single fucking point thread generating in the lathe
i was doing a pair of FOX FACTORY shocks had fabbed up the rods a few weeks ago along with 4 otheres better in numbers ya know
but i had left them unfinished for to cut to lentgh when needed anyway itsa 7/16-20 unf thread RH v60 degree std shit on the end of 1/2 round rod
i copied exactly the fox factory, goddam that types easy
,i copied there exact design ,you will notice a nice little radius relief up at shoulder very impoortant that this be there and nicely rounded so as not to fucus stress
when s-p threading you dont plunge the cuts ,that is not straight in with the cross slide it will hunt wander and chatter like a fucker
do not try to use a carbide theading cutter in your home lathe i wont say it again thjerte lots of reasons why not the main one being is you will never learn to sp thread
i use an old school high speed threading scroll dealy high speed is plenty fine it wont carry the heat lode of coba;lt but it is much easier to hone an edge on
get in the habbit of honing the edges specially in aluminum and esp the chip mpath the top face that the chip is sliding on
more latter notice ;; the crosslide at 0 ,handle at 6 on clocking the 29 degree setting on the compound, at zero, clocking position not a matter
