Solid Bar ruining bar end install

PHeller

Coast to Coast
Nobody told me these CB360's had solid bars. WTF? I go to install my nice new bar end mirror and then having myself drilling into the bar trying to figure out exactly how deep this solid piece goes...well after going about an inch into the solid piece I gave up.

I'm thinking of tapping the solid piece to fit the bolt that came with the mirror and just bolting it on rather than using the expander.

Any other options? Buy a new bar I guess...

......solid bars? I don't think so, at least I've never seen it.
Are they stock bars or something aftermarket?

well they appear solid unless there was some rammed up inside them that is a good inch or two thick. It also doesn't appear to move any further inboard either.

never heard of that either... if the wires are routed through the bars then they can't be solid.... maybe the po stuck a solid piece in there, if it's in good just tap it i'd say

It's in awesome, and considering I've seen others give advice to take bar stock and jam it into the bars to mount bar ends, so tapping seems like a good solution there.

Good point, don't lose sight of a 'gimme'....
regardless of how odd solid bars are, drill and tap those ends for your mirrors!
