Solutions for brake lever brake light switch??

Jfishsolevibe

Coast to Coast
So I replaced the smashed up old levers on my bike with some new Moose Racing shorties. Problem is these levers don't have a slot for the brake light switch. What have some of you guys done to get around this? Running without one is an option I suppose, but i'd like to be able to pass inspection. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Is this for hydraulic brakes or cable? With hydraulic brakes I usually pick up an inline switch ie a banjo bolt with a built in pressure switch

Cheers

Might have to get new perches. I think any kind of switch that you could jury-rig to get on there wouldn't hold up too well. Sorry buddy!

I'd be more inclined to epoxy one of these on than drill your controls:

That's a Yamaha front switch - google them ;)

Yamaha/Suzuki/Kawasaki/Honda all use that type of switch
I would try and adapt one to perch and fit angle bracket to lever.
You also 'remote mount' a rear switch under top yoke and use cable to operate it

Hmmm.. I dont think Im clear on how that switch works..? Im into the idea of the cable activating the switch.. but how? thanks guys!

The rubber covered bit near the lettering is the switch button - as it sits now the switch is "on", push the pin in to turn it "off".

As PJ said, mount the body of the switch on the brake lever perch and fab a tang off the bottom of the lever to activate the switch. Connect your brake switch wires to the pins (either way around) and you're good to go.
