So this is actually my buddies bike that he just finished up. He just registered so I am posting this until he "learns the ropes".
It is hard to classify... so I am just throwing it in here. Bobber chop cafe? I dunno. Regardless, it is what he wanted and that's all that matters IMO.
who cares what you call it, I like it. Kind of a mix of different styles but I like the way it came together, Almost looks like a Enfield bullet with a parallel twin istead of a single.
Thanks man! I was kind of accidental! I was going straight "cafe racer" but then this happened, and I couldn't be happier! I call it my little Half Calfe.
Welcome to the forum. The bike looks fantastic. Really nice attention to detail. I like it a lot! The only thing that I'm not in love with is the solo seat. Personally i'm not a fan of using seat springs on a bike with suspension. It just seems kinda redundant. Its also hard to get a solo to flow with the lines of a bike with flat seat rails. I think a nice thin seat running all the way to the fender would take this bike way over the top. It would be a show stopper. However, that's just me though and if you're happy with it that's 100% all that matters.
You know, I really wanted to do a "brat" style seat like you're talking about, without buying one, but got tired of trying to fab one up. So I see what you are saying about it not flowing well. However, the first time I sat on this seat I was hooked! So yeah it's different, but I kind of like it because of that + the comfort. Any suggestions on how to painlessly and cheaply make a low pro seat pan.. I'm all ears though!
That's funny. I've got a sheet of thick aluminum at my house that we could probably make a brat style pan out of pretty easily. And depending on how you mount it you could always interchange it and the single seat depending on your mood.
The bare metal look was an after thought that ended up working much better than my original white and black idea.
Well.. After spilling gas on it while it was just a spray can clear.. I had to redo it. Grr! So I got some two part clear that was in can form. It's tough now!
