I am working on a 1976 CB550. I am starting on getting the carbs right, but have some questions. Where can i get individual jets cheap? When i went into the carbs I knoticed that 3 of them have size 40's for pilot jets, 1 has a 38. So I only need 1 size 40. Also wanted to step the 100's up to 110's.
On a seperate note, has anyone had luck with drilling the main jets to a bigger size? I have a buddy that jetted his 650 that way. He went to a local tool shop that had tiny bits. He used a micrometer to find the exact size he needed. Unfortunately he needed 120's so i would have to find one that is a 110.
Our local is pretty good, but you need to know what parts you want and go in with the part numbers. We support our local dealer because we have lost a few over teh years and they are not coming back. Sometimes I like to just go to the store and see bikes and bike people and grab a bottle of oil or whatever. I don't want to get everything on line. It's not a good way to live IMHO
I still get most stuff on line but where I want genuine parts I prefer to visit my dealer or call the order in and go in and pick it up.
I feel the exact same way. There is another local dealer that I do like to get stuff from, just happens that the one I like is not the Honda dealer. I will check with them tomorrow, since they are closed on monday's. They are actually so cool that they tell me to look online some times if they can't get what I'm looking for at a good price. Just wish the Honda dealer was cool to me
Thanks guys, i'l check out Dime City and Honda-parts direct. I sucked it up and got the #40 pilot from the dealer. They happen to have it in stock. At least with that they are all even. I also move the needle height to the 4th slot. Now i can sync them, then move to the main and do the 110's.
