Got to keep the loonies on the path...
Just a thought here guys, but in the southeastern US, how many motorcycle salvage/junk yards are still out there that have classics in the tall weeds out back? I used to frequent a huge yard in greer, SC a few years back that had several acres of cb's, cl's rd's, everything under the sun (literally) for the cafe builder. This place had several cb750F bikes leaning against trees that were salvageable, and I even dug through piles of old suzuki 2-strokes to find a gas tank for my brother's 81 cb400F. But at the time I was busy with modern sportbikes so I thought nothing of it. Now that I'm into cafe's, I drive down there and the entire place in gone - as if it were never there! The only other place I know of is in Hickory, NC. So here's my thoughts: The internet is a good resource for parts, but sometimes its nice to have those yards around just to find that one little part that is impossible to get anymore. If we all have favorite local places to go for parts, why not list them here as a directory of sorts for all to enjoy? Ive only got two that I know of in the area so here they are:
Benson's Cycle Salvage
(828) 465-3296
2401 Northwest Blvd, Newton, NC
They have most asian makes in there, some inside, some outside.
Cycles Recycled Motorcycles
(828) 433-1067
4754 Nc-18 S, Morganton, NC 28655
