Spark , No Spark driving me crazy!

I could agree with you but then we'd both be wrong
This may be a little long, but I want to try and explain all my problems, so maybe someone can help me figure out where I'm going wrong. Also I really don't know much about electrical problem solving.

First, this is on a Gpz 305 twin. What's happening is I had the bike running very well, and went out and put 30+ miles on it without a problem. When I got back to the shop it started doing the sporatic running and then not running thing.

At first I thought it was just a loose wire which I finally thought I traced it to a bad connector on the CDI to the harness. I finally direct wired the harness to the cdi and it seemed to work, but now it's doing it again.

I have tried 3 different CDI boxes, 3 different wiring harnesses and it still doesn't work consistently. So maybe that is not the problem?? :-[ It will sometimes fires on one cylinder.

Today I swapped the coil wire from the wiring harness from one side to the other with a spark tester plug thingy and it would spark with the one wire, but not the other. I swapped it back and forth several times and it always would work on either coil, while the other wire wouldn't work on either coil. Then  one time both plugs fired and then it was back to only the one.

So any ideas on what this could be, I'm starting to think it has nothing to do with the wiring. I am totally lost.

If it's been sitting for a time give a good look at the grounds . Crap can fully insulate the engine from the chassis . Once had all but the clutch cable insulated from the engine . Imagine how briefly the cable lasted when the battery leg was engaged ...

I'll recheck everything again, but I have changed coils also. I've checked the ing pickups, the coils and grounds. I beginning to think it's a connector past the wiring harness.

Thanks for the help, I'll keep checking things.

Any other ideas??

New plugs and wires with the coil changes?

If so, my vote is going to a bad ground somewhere, as well. It's surprising how often that happens.
