Sprocket oil seal(s)

1980 Honda CB650C, the cases were put back together, engine put back in the bike, to see that clearly there's an oil seal missing. The seal missing should be around the shaft with the front sprocket. There should be an inner seal, and an outer seal, the latter of which is currently not there. The outer seal has a lip around it that fits into a groove on the case, to prevent it from moving in/out. This also prevents a seal from being put in without cracking open the cases again.

My question is this: is a suitable solution to this knocking in a seal without a lip, perhaps with some gasket maker/silicone around the outside? There is no oil pressure coming from the inside as there are two seals, but I'm sure there's a lip on the stock seal for a reason...

ANY input to this situation would be greatly appreciated.

just do it right... those seals should still be available through the manufacturer, if not through them then through ebay. check Bike Bandit. i wouldnt put anything else in there; thats asking for problems.
