Re: SR500 1978...it's a cafe on the inside

Yup, if you run fuel line from one side to the other it will keep the fuel level on both sides.

do you know how the front of tank is attached?
i got my tank off and was trying to get the rd tank on to see how it fits, and it seems like the rubber hockey puck are flip flopped. they are on my frame on the sr...but look like they are on the rd tank as well.

any ideas??

i did get bottom sprayed with rust kill...it's coming together.

thanks for the help

Re: SR500 1978..."KING TACO"

well....i was optimistic. i had my bike with some so-called master welder old man...who let it just sit around for months...never did anything, except dent my perfect cond. stock tank.

anyways...hopefully this week, i should have my tank mounted and frame hoop on.

here is my design, i'm going for...

Re: SR500 1978..."KING TACO" *seat made out of cowboy boots*

Pretty cool, I dig that.

Re: SR500 1978..."KING TACO" *seat made out of cowboy boots*

Looking good! Inspiring me to get some work done on my SR.

Don't fill in the side-cover areas - leave them open and make the stuff in there look neat and tidy.

Re: SR500 1978..."KING TACO" *seat made out of cowboy boots*

That seat is wild man. Very nice indeed.

Re: SR500 1978..."KING TACO" *seat made out of cowboy boots*

thanks a lot!

i was gonna use an old jacket....but the colors we so typical, i wanted something other than black.

i was in a vintage store and passed by the boot section, they had all kinds of colors and patterns.

and i agree about the "no side covers" ...i'm really trying to get it clean and simple.

once i get the seat mounted, i'll put up some more pics

thanks, again

Can't say enough good things about the seat. Love it.

Re: SR500 1978..."KING TACO" *seat made out of cowboy boots*

You must have gone to "The Leather Whisperer" for that seat cover! Nice design and execution!

Re: SR500 1978..."KING TACO" *seat made out of cowboy boots*

i can only take credit for the design.

the guy who did it for me, is in school currently for upholstery, his first motorcycle seat, I figured he was up to the challenge.

his name is joseph, in tacoma, Wa if anyone is interested.

Re: SR500 1978..."KING TACO" *seat made out of cowboy boots*

Re: SR500 1978..."KING TACO" *seat made out of cowboy boots*

got it started!

the last issues are blinkers dont blink

and 2nd fuel line out of petcock seemed to just be pouring gas right into cylinder...driping out of exhaust pipe.

it was great to hear it thumping again...and i got to ride it down the street, it's been over a year off the road.
