Starter button fix?

calmoc9

i don't have any patches actually....
Searched and couldn't find anything. What have you guys done to replace/repair the starter button? How many amps was the stock one rated for? Opened up the whole assembly tonight and the plastic casing that held the switch took a crap in my hand. Thanks for your time!!

the starter button doesn't carry any significant amount of current. just about any button will do. I removed mine and have no interest in installing another one. she almost always starts on the first kick anyways.

What year? I took my starter button off and threw it away, but this is what the horn button looked like after "rebuilding" it

That's a '75 Honda and as far as mechanical systems go they don't get much simpler. The button passes very little load... that's what the solenoid is for.

What do you mean by "took a crap in your hand" I'm guessing it looks somewhat like this... but backwards

A little bit of investigation should show you where everything went if it all fell out. Look for shiny spots where one part rubbed on another, or patterns of corrosion that make sense together.
