Starting procedure cb350

Just seeing if my starting procedure sounds ok. Gas on->key on-> choke on-> kick through once-> choke off-> kick until starts (1-3 times). Thanks!

Nope,
Leave the choke on until the bike it warm. So 5 minutes or so.

My 350 doesn't run well with the choke on. I use the choke only for the first few seconds of ignition, then turn it off. Bike then settles to a steady idle after a couple of minutes.

Even in cold weather?
When its warm out the choke is usually not a necessity, but when its cold its usually required.
At least in my experience.

I'm still fiddling with fine tuning my carbs a bit so I expect it to be a 1 kick bike when done. I'm chasing an electrical problem right now.

Every bike is different. Usually, choke on full until it starts, up to three kicks. As soon as it fires, crack the choke slightly open, and gradually open it more as the engine warms.

That is the general rule for bikes with an actual butterfly choke, assuming a cold engine. Cold weather requires more choking, hot weather requires less.

Bikes that have an enrichener circuit are a little different. The enrichener ONLY works with the throttle closed. There is no "partial choke" position. The enrichener is either on or it's off. As soon as you give it throttle, it has little effect, so you ride until the bike idles on its own, then turn the enrichener off.

Like was said every bike is different, my 650 seldom needs the choke, my bultaco trials bike is a cold blooded pig and needs all the choke it can get.. They're all different.. You need to tune it the very best you can and then develop to procedure that works for your machine..

On my 450, gas on, full choke, key on, crack the throttle just a little and kick. Usually starts first kick. Then half choke for a minute or so til it warms up.
