Starving an Engine of Fuel Stoopid question ?

Stupid question here ? Or are there any stoopid questions ?

Say you stop for gas, you fill up and pull away not realizing you shut your petcock to the Stop position during fueling. 2-3 min later your motor die's of fuel starvation down the road. Does this have any adverse reactions or cause any problems ?

Not that I know of. You'll run lean for the few seconds your engine is fuel starving, but not long enough to do damage associated with traditional lean running. Most likely you'll just have to let the carburettor prime itself with fuel from the tank again before starting off.

Ya, I've done that about a hundred times. Only thing it MIGHT do is suck a little dirt from the bottom of the carbs that normally just sits there.

And as long as you dont know the answer, it's not a stupid question.

No, it's not bad. It is for fuel injected vehicles though. Especially ones that have the fuel pump submerged in the gas tank.
