Sticky Slide

I realized yesterday while re assembling everything that the slide in my #1 carb is being a jerk. I noticed it wasn't lifting while cranking the throttle like the other 3. Reaching in there and pushing it up, it makes the sound like there is a little vacuum, but then it stays up. When I unscrew the top of the carb just a bit, the slide drops back down.

What am I missing here? Taking it apart, everything looks fine. I'm new to this so I have the confusion..

Sounds like a clogged air jet in the carb.
Have you cleaned them?

Thank you.

I did just clean it and I swear it wasn't doing that while I was reassembling. Its going to rain the next 5 days here in Chicago so I have plenty of time to pull it out and try to fix...

I only looked in there because the bike was idling like crap when I turned it on the first time after pulling the carb out this winter and messing with it...

Did you remember to put the spring in ;D

After you clean them again blow compressed air through all of the passages to make sure they are clear. Compare the air coming out of each passage to the other carb and make sure they feel the same-ish. If one is significantly different than the other take a closer look at it.

I was wondering about the spring too.. I just re did all the rubber seals (put in brand new ones) and wondered if I should have done the springs too..

I will check the air jets. Everything looked fine when I re assembled.

This whole project has been demanding. I've never worked on a bike in my life, but decided to tear my apart this winter. I only bought it last summer. As I would 'fix' one issue, two more would pop up underneath it!

It's the only way to learn ;D

Its not sticking anymore, smooth as ever. I don't exactly know what I did. I took off the top and bottom and and sprayed everything with compressed air. Then put it back together and gave it a shot. Not sticking anymore, so ok!

Now have to wait for a few valve shims to show up in the mail before I can try and start her again. Thanks Sonic.
