Suzuki family - my 83GS850 Cafe Project and the other toys.

Chimera Moto Works

Been Around the Block
So, just to get it out of the way, we're a family that focuses on a love for specifically Suzuki GS series bikes. We currently have five bikes in our fleet including:

1982 All Original GS750EZ - 15,000 miles, OEM down to the tool kit.
1982 GS750T - 17,000 miles, slowly being parted out for other projects, being kept for its straight frame and clear title for a future project.
1978 GS550E - 12,000 original miles, all original, being "lightly" restored to an all original bike.
1979 GS425L - 14,000 original miles, being turned into a "military special" town bopper.
1983 GS850G - 22,000 original miles, my personal Cafe project.

I'm going to post a few photos, one is of my bike in complete stock form, and about a month old photo of its current state, i'll also try to add a few shots of our setup and all the other toys.

Thanks, excited to meet many of you at the summer DTT GTG in Maryville, TN this year. (Please reference Loungin at da club for more information on this gtg.)

nice start. what are you using for side covers and where did you find a cafe seat pan that actually looks decent w/ the huge ass tank that the gs850s have????

This is the 425 bike we're still modifying. Old-school clip-on mirrors, replaced the entire front end and put shock boots on during the process, GS450 frotn fender, built plates that actual military belt screws on to, allowing you to clip anything with military clips on the side covers, rear ammo can, and a rear soft bag will be added soon on the other side. Also a small rack will be put together for the rear. We also have plans and the parts to wrap the exhaust, and paint the muffler cans black.

* Forgot to mention the solo-seat. We made some brackets out of some square stock that matched the rear bolt angle, allowing us to simply bolt the seat in place, in stead of dealing with classic springs, with the bike being soft tail, we didn't see the reason to spend a good amount of extra time spring mounting the seat.

I actually built those side covers from scratch using fiberglass and a one-off MDF mold, elevator bolts w/ wing nuts to tigten them down on three new tabs I welded on each side in place of all the factory tabs.

As for the seat and tank, the seat is actually an eBay item, made of Great quality IMO, full fiberglass. I took frame width measurements to ensure it would fit. The tank is a 750T tank that I built custom mounts for on my frame.

Also, the frame on the 850GS dips down, and is not a flat-top style frame. I completely sub-framed my bike, and built a new flat-top frame on top in order to achieve the style of frames most of you have from the factory.

Thanks for the input, i'm glad to answer any questions.

Welcome to DTT. Huge fan of the old zooks. Have 5 myself. Lol. Looking forward to seeing more pics, and the gtg.
