Suzuki GR650 - back to work...

And I ordered a taillight lens for a T500:

Still in the mockup stage of course, but here's what I'm looking at for the rear end:

Thanks fellas.

Right now progress is extremely slow due to my lack of shop time. I'm currently working twelve on / four off, 12 hour midnight shifts. And found out recently that I "might" be working 7 days a week, 12 hours a night until I head to Barbers in October. Yuck.

The upside of that is I'll have plenty of extra $ for parts. Always a silver lining......

Man do I ever know what you mean about finding enough shop time. I have been working two jobs for waaaay too long!

Haha! This is awesome. Glad to see the GR is still progressing man! Nice work!

Thanks Tyler! I swear though, this is the last time the GR is coming down to the frame for mods. Next year I plan on having 2running bikes waiting in the garage at all times. Unless I go through with the GS450 / GS500 engine swap........dammit! It's a sickness I tell you!

:)

Ain't that the truth! Keep up the good work brother, can't wait to see it in person.

Thanks Jared. If everything works out the way I want, this bike should be road worthy come spring time. So if you Southerners ride up, you guys will see it freshly built.......

While I'm here - anybody have some GSXR or similar rearsets floating around they are willing to let go of? I'm looking at some Hayabusa units on eBay and I'd rather spend the cash among DTT.

Uh-huh, sure. :)

Got my GR out last night and bombed around the neighborhood for a
while. Been some time since I rode it and I just kept thinking, "Hmmm, if I tear it down, re-do the subframe, powdercoat the frame, put progressive springs in, replace the front disc with a two-disc setup, changed the chain..."

I'll buy the "it's a sickness" idea as reality. I keep looking at Kwazykid's build and this thread and thinking, "Hmmm..."

Pretty much a pipe dream on my end. Likely up for sale this week or next. Might be able to keep it if I sold a couple of basses, but that would be a difficult decision as well.

Think I'd prefer to be independently wealthy. Any tips on that? :)

Independently wealthy, huh? Hmmmm.....either hit the lottery or marry into money? I don't play the lottery, and am already married, so I'm out. Guess I'll have to keep working on 30 year old bikes......

Ya know Rook, I can't say I'd blame you if you sold the GR. No matter what you do to it, it will always be compared to your SV..... Speaking of SV650's, the aftermarket for them is pretty big too. You could upgrade the suspension, brakes, tires & wheels, intake, exhaust, upholstery, lighting, add a fairing,........

Yep. Definite sickness!

Thanks Pete!

I wish I could say I'm making tons of progress and just being all hush-hush and not posting...... but I'm just not making any progress. I am, however, gathering parts and info for future work though. There is a possibility of me working every day until the middle of October......if that's the case, this should move along fairly quickly over winter.

Time will tell.......

Looks good i know a guy that knows these bikes like the back of his hand if ypu need anything pm big ri...shit i just...thought you were someone else

Ha!

Haha!

No worries Brad, I've already talked to the other 6 GR650 owners in the US. After my meeting with Mr Suzuki, of course......
