Thanks gents. I'm excited about the wheels. The fairing probably won't happen for a little while - I've been nickel and diming my parts fund for other stuff. Which is ok, since I plan on going over the paint and stuff for this bike anyway.......
If it was worth the postage you could have my old bikini fairing for free... I dare say it wouldn't be cheap to ship and I don't know if I'd trust it not to be broken in transit...
Damn. Pete, if I could get that fairing from you it would make my day. I LOVE the 450 quarter fairings. Like you said tough, it would cost an arm and a leg to get it to the states....
there are some mods over there that will work with your GR... Like Kawi twin pot calipers with Honda CBR semi-floaters, theres a guy that makes brackets for the binders on there. Salty Monk. And actually someone has a full kit, binders rotors and brackets over there for sale now.. Cartridge emulators from Racetech (i didnt read the whole build thread, sorry) will work with your forks, or Mikes XS sells some very very similar knockoffs as well..
I am (of course). There is WAY too much info there for Suzuki owners to ignore!
I don't post nearly as much, but try to read as much as possible. I'm low budgeting this build as much as possible - spend money on what I really want and need. Know what I mean? Thanks for the heads up though sir!

Well this isn't the legit 450 fairing, it's an aftermarket one that was on there when I bought it, but it's reasonably similar. The windshield curves over more than the stock one which is why I took it off, directs the wind at your chest in the standard riding position. Clip ons may solve that
It could do with some cosmetic work and I have the brackets too, so I can certainly check how much it would cost if you're keen... just let me know
And TCK, I'm "pete" over on the GSR, had to add the "GS" bit as pete was already taken here, glad to see you on here too
Swag: I used those intake mounts you made to mount up the VM34's. I will be pm'ing you as soon as I get some measurements........
Joe: I figured you would like that color!
T71: Oddly enough, I prefer to cut as little off the frame as possible. The CL175 I did only had the battery tray cut off- all other tabs and mounts were left alone. Figured somebody might actually want to restore one of these someday.......
Rich I have not been around much but I am still checking in a bit on these builds, just not posting much. This bike looks great man. Getting better every time I see it. I cant wait to see a fairing on the front, I think it will really suit this bike. Keep up the stellar work!
Thanks B! We understand your situation. The new job, new house, married life, etc. They take there toll (in a good way).
I'm trying to sock away the cash for the fairing I want. It may take a little while (if at all) so I want to get everything else "ready" by spring time just in case.
You're doing awesome work Rich, she'll be a ripper when she's done!
Rich... you know this fairing could be doable?
I'm looking at the postage details and costs and I think if I was to pack it well in a box with the shield removed (packed with it of course) it would fit the restrictions. I think it would be $AU80.00 to ship it to you (guessing 2.5 - 3kg weight)... don't take it as fact yet but if you're keen I can check it out further... the big question is if I can pack it safely with light enough material that it doesn't make too much extra weight...
Twisted actually has a little hand in this bike - he made the tank badges that are on there. He's just double checking his work!
And Pete - I really have my eyes set on the GS500 fairing from Airtech. If I can swing getting that one in time, I wouldn't use a quarter fairing. If you aren't planning on doing anything with it, I may want it for a future build though. I really do appreciate the offer though - you are a real stand up character!
Really? The GS5 fairing?I have one of their solo tails.Man that thing is huge and ugly.I'll do the body work one day and put it on my black 89 GS.I'm just surprised anyone would want the GS5 fairings on another make.
