so im sure there is a question similar to mine on this site but i recently bought a gs750 to rebuild and am leaning towards a cafe style so i wanted to eliminate the old bulky battery. i jumped the gun and bought a ballistic battery before i looked into it closer cuz a guy from work told me it would work on my bike. i bought an 8cell evo2 and now im reading the the charging systems on these older bikes can overcharge the battery and ruin it. basically my question is what do i have to do to make this battery work for my bike. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Most regulator/rectifiers these days never exceed 14.4v and will be safe for all 12v batteries. Upgrade and check that voltage is safe.

One problem is a lithium battery doesn't like being fully discharged. Once it gets too low, say from cranking or leaving the ignition on, it won't be able to hold a charge. Be careful.

Otherwise, I love the antigravity batteries I've been using, but you will want to use a balance charger to make it last. It plugs into the small port on the battery.

^Yep. Worth the coin to pick up the Ballistic charger. You get past a certain point, there is no recharging the battery. Such is the price you pay to cut weight and stick a battery under your tail section.

Spark Moto sells a LiFe battery with internal balancing circuitry, so no need to pull the battery and tend it. Haven't tried it but I have a feeling Sonreir has run his tests.

Get in touch with Sparck Moto (click on the ad to the left). Sonrier (member here) will have what you need in terms of a modern solid state regulator/rectifier.

The stator is a major weak point in the GS750 Charging system, I would advise you upgrade it to a new part and get a modern Reg/Rec off Sparck to connect it to.
A stator can be had fairly cheap from Caltric. If you are after a bit higher quality check out electrosports stator.

And we're carrying newer style LFP batteries that out perform Ballistic in many major categories. The batteries we stock from earthX are designed and manufactured in the USA. They also use prismatic cells instead of cylindrical so that they're less prone to vibration failures. Additionally, they have internal circuitry to help protect against over charging, over discharging, and have an internal cell balancer. They're the first and only Lithium-based we carry.
