Well my lovely little two stroke has been giving me problems lately. It started off running great with a new battery installed and carbs cleaned and i road it around a bit. Then it started to what seems like drain the battery, start up would be great but once it ran for a few minutes it would not idle anymore just die. If i held the throttle it would run fine when stopped. During this if im not giving it gas the headlight and tail light would dim. I let the bike sit for about a month because i expected it to be the coils and couldn't rightfully let my girlfriend ride the thing while having to hold the throttle at stop. Well i've checked the coils and im getting spark, Ive tried push starting it and it wants to start, it winds up but then dies promptly. Is ANYONE familiar with this bike i know they're quite scarce but this one has 1200 on the clock and is in immaculate condition. Is it my generator, points? im lost please help!

Not a lot to go on, but sounds like teh battery is not being charged, so it runs flat.

Remove the battery and charge it and see if it runs fine. if so, you need to methodically check the charging circuit. Start with easy stuff like broken wires and corroded connections and sneak up on the alternator and rectifier/regulator.

It's a DC starter/generator.
Almost exactly the same as Yamaha RD125/200 twins and DT125 E (wiring colours are different between manufacturers though)
None of the conventional AC generator 'help/advice' will work for you.
You will be better off looking at Dynamo systems on British bikes to get general idea how it works.
In my experience the rotor coils either go 'open' or short out, stators are usually very reliable.
Remove brush holder and brushes then check segments on rotor for continuity.
It will be a good idea to make notes and diagrams before you start.
The regulator is adjustable but you don't want to mess with it until you know generator is good (then you probably won't need to mess with it)
I'm off work until at least the 8th Sept so won't be able to get any info, look for a genuine Suzuki manual, it gives best explanation how to check/test
