Switch rating

Been Around the Block
im doing a complete custom wiring and wanted to know if a switch with a Rating of 250V/2A or 125V/3A would work for my application, im using the ballistic 4cell 12v battery wich is 10 amps i belive, it for a cl350

thanks!

The battery is not "10 amps," it is 10 Amp/hours.

What is this switch for? If you are using it as a main disconnect, you need a much heavier duty switch than that.

I want to use a on off key switch between the battery and a dpts 30amp switch that i will be using as the ignition, what rating would i need?

Are you talking about a switch that will activate a relay? If so, the relay handles the load, and a 3A switch would be more than enough to activate the relay. Relay windings only draw a small fraction of an amp.

A relay would work, but i was thinking a simple on off key switch between the battery and ignition switch since i will be using a dpts as the ignition

I don't want to open new thread...
I want to install switch to disconnect positive lead from the battery.
I found switch with rating 220VAC-10A or 150VAC-15A
Will this do?

Don't put a disconnect switch between the battery and the battery cable that supplies power to the starter unless you use a switch specifically designed for that, like the Hella switch. Starters draw VERY heavy current and would cook a 15 A switch in seconds.

The circuit that supplies everything else on the bike can usually be handled by a 15 switch on smaller bikes. More substantial bikes may need 20, 30, or even 50 A disconnects for the electrical system.

I think you are over your head here. Get some help with your wiring project.

All the wiring is already done and bike is up and running ;)
This was just a tought for a mod to prevent joy riders :)
Will look up for heavy duty switch and consult local electro mechanic guy.
cheers!

You don't need to disconnect the main battery cable to disable the bike, just the main power to the rest of the bike.
