SYM?

This is strictly curiosity. I took some advice here and picked up an older model SV 650 to replace my old ride and it's a blast, even though it needs some work!I was flipping through the last Cafe Racer mag and came across the ad for SYM's Wolf Classic 150. Anyone have any experience with it?

There is a comparo ride of that vrs the CCW Misfit on Motorcycle USA I think. They are a decent bike for the money from what I gather. I have only seen there scooters in person and they are not junk but not Japanese quality either

SYMs are Taiwanese, somewhere between the quality of Japanese and Chinese but closer to Japanese.

i work for a Genuine Sym dealer turning wrenches, we carry the Wolf.
i actually just uncrated another today and started PDI, we've sold about 10 so far, no issues with them, and theyre very popular with hipsters and people that want a neat little vintage bike but dont have the mechanical prowess or patience to find one. quality wise id put them up there closer to japanese, ive seen some of the other bikes like sky team from china and theyre junky. the engine on the wolf in pretty nice, peppy, tolerances look good, lots of emissions garbage and the carbs are good quality, its pretty much a new Honda unit as SYM used to make all the honda products for the taiwanese market. my only gripes are the paint quality, the tank paint will usually come with some imperfections and small chips on the seams especially up by the bars, on the darker colors there is some cloudyness in the clear coat, the metal for the front and rear fenders is also "cheesedick" ive had some customers just repaint or customize theirs, its a good platform to do some cool stuff to, the suspension is decent and adjustable on the rear, you can carry a small hipster girl or boy on the back no problem, the tires are good too, lots of the parts are interchangable with some older CB series hondas, id like one of the kick start levers on my CL, the braking is also pretty good, disc on the front and drum rear. the stock clip on style bars look agressive but its actually a very comfortable bike to buzz around on, 5 speed gear box, shifts just like an old honda, occassional false neutrals or slipping the clutch a little to engage. for the price i always reccomend them to people or friends that want an old honda but dont want to get their hands dirty, and it has a warranty which is nice. ive rung one out to about 60, good enough on a 150 single.

nothing super exciting but its based on a small 70s CB, so thats what you get, just with better brakes and roadside assistance. my girl has been wanting one for a while and i wouldnt hesitate to let her have one, which i think is good word coming from someone that works on bikes every day. the fit and finish gripes aside its a good bike for the money and i dont think youd be dissapointed.

Thanks guys. I was just curious. I have a lot to learn on my bike, but it just caught my eye. I was thinking of it for a family member who wants to learn to ride. She's thinking of something for around town in a college town type situation.
