T-rex TX500 yamaha..."No Regrets"

personally i think the seat pad looks better without the bump pad with the current position of the seat pad.....if you moved the seat pad forward an inch or so and ten moved the bump pad up so you had some white peeking out between the 2 pads i think that would look good.

ya I agree.

Personally, I think your seat is way too smooth for just cut padding. And I mean that in the best possible way. Maybe if it was just one solid piece? Maybe some white upholstery? Too bad fiberglass isn't soft on the butt...

well.. i took some pictures today, raced home from the office, pulled out the bike, fired it up... talked to like 1000 dads trick or treating with their kids... i get on it and the bike dies... so i do the KISS method... first check gas... bone dry! glad i used clear fuel lines, put some gas in her and she fired right up!
hopped on her and ran to the closest parking lot, the local HS

i suck at the photo thing, but here they are

you can see the air scoop in this one... that is why the tank is not perfecly flat, i want to funnel as much air in there as possible

Joe,

Great pics!!! I like the minimal seat pad idea, simple.

How are the rear sets working? I was wondering if they would be sturdy enough. Impressions??

I agree too.
New pictures are fantastic. I love that dash on the tank. I think it really gives it an art deco feel. Really nice touch. Bravo!!

+ 1 more on the gap between the pads.

T-rex is looking amazing. One of my favorite builds by far. I love all the innovations.
Bravo my friend, Bravo.

I just wanted to say how much i love this bike. I'm doing an SR500 build at the moment and i was prepping a GSX250 tank to go on it, but now i'm thinking i might run the stock tank after all.... and that's your fault. Great job.

well after work yesterday i raced home, hopped on the cafe, then Sean and i went downtown for 1/2 fast Chicago monday night bike night... first time the cafe saw highway action... and saw it for an hour strait... she loves to cruise right at 70-73, but i wound her up to around 90 a few times to try and keep up with the GSXR... she had a bit of room to run but i am not going to push it before i get her dialed in just right.... at 70 it was a GREAT ride! hell i have to say, the way the seat shapes to the bike, and the small pad, i was confortable on there... was a great first run to a 1/2 fast get together

very cool joe! It's great to get to the point when you can trust the old girls for sustained driving. To me, that's when you've succeeded.

And I never understood the discomfort of the cafe...yeah on a 500 mile tour or the iron butt challenge maybe, but on regular riding, I like the stance!

Congrats on the success.

DUDE... I LOVE IT!!!! looks perfect!!! flows so well with the bike... while i had the bucket open I made a cap to close up the open spots in the back of the lamp housing... (when i would ride where the wires fed into the bucket, was open so at night the light would shine right in my eyes... not anymore)
i also used some alum tape to close the lower ones off, the top one i cut a round piece of plastic and then cut a V into it so the wires can pass, then super glued that in so it woud hold in place as i cauked it... but here is a few pics of the visor

(the rolls of carpet are for the bikes in the back barn... you should always put your bike on carpet if it is on cement... it traps the moisture that the cement lets off and keeps the bike nice and dry (i also put charchole on the seat to keep rust from forming)

charcoal in the seat? I'd assume that's to absorb moisture in the air then?

In my storage lockup I've got 25-28 bikes....I lose count since 10-11 are torn down and in boxes etc. I use a desiccant pale I got at a camping supply joint. It's got this white-ish powder that sucks the moisture out of the air really well. Once every couple weeks I pour in on a cookie sheet and bake the moisture out. Then it's good to go for another period.
I makes things nice and dry in there. Might be worth looking into. I also sealed the concrete floor with epoxy, that helps a ton. Looks kinda cool too.

hell ya! i sealed my floor as well and then run a industrial carpet over it... more for the heat in the winter than anyting... ya the charchole is for the moisture... all my bikes have a cover on them so with the temp changes moisture developes an this soaks it up... ya i am cheap... i have 2 of those hanging moisture catches you are talking about in the back as well... they work awesome!!! i need to get off my lazy tail and go out there and seal all the eaves with foam... but it is cold... ha ha ha
25-28 bikes... my wife would never see me!

I should get some of the moisture catches for the shop! great advice!!!

Heh...yeah I spent quite a while foaming out the eaves and tacking up Styrofoam insulation boards. Made a noticeable difference though it's still fookin' cold mate! I've got a couple 100w bulbs that stay lit too.

Visor looks great Joe. I love it!
Man I so need to do some work in my garage. I have a nice fuse panel that I wired in but that's as far as I got. Built the garage about 3 years ago I guess and I'm still using extension cords for outlets and have temporary lights (well one or two clamp lights. So sad). The ceiling is still open too. It's but ass cold in there in the winter and hot as hell in the summer. Too many other projects going on I guess. One day I'll get around to it.

We should be like the Amish and all go around and help each other finish our garages. I've got the same problem. Butt ass cold. I would be out there right now too.
